We've Gone International

With our growing desire to aide musicians and continue to go we at Vandala Concepts have added the first international act. Iranian indie modern rock band Ahoora has joined roster of dedicated musicians.

Formed late 2001 in Tehran, Iran; Ahoora has played the first and yet only metal performance ever with vocals in Iran. Since then and throughout their career they’ve been banned by the authorities. (For any confusion watch the documentary GLOBAL METAL.

Here VC we are so proud to add them to our family and announce their 3rd release "Awkward Diary". This passionate bands first single, “Crimson Baby”, is dedicated to Neda & all who died innocently in Tehran streets during the conflicts of June 2009. DOWNLOAD IT NOW.

Busy Bee Barron S

It’s been continues to be a busy 2010 for Barron S. In just two months she’s started the year off with a bang playing some serious gigs including the Vancouver Music and Fashion Festival, and River Rock Casinos “All in” celebrity poker tournament for the Haitian Relief Fund along with several other locally grown artists like Carly Jepsen.

"I just got to play an amazing show at the River Rock Casino! Some of the guests included Playmate of the year, and star of “The Hills” Jayde Nicole, That 70's Show’s Danny Masterson, Trevor Boris of Much Music, and Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench. After I played, Jayde asked one of the members of the production team to bring me over so she could meet me. Crazy!” – Barron S.

We’re also really excited to be sending Barron S to showcase this year's Canadian Music Week in March. Never one to slow her pace for a busy schedule, Barron S is officially in studio working with producers L-precise and Dave Badiuk. We’re really looking forward to hearing her new stuff and passing it on to you for preview as soon as possible. Keep in touch with our website and Barron S’s blog for more information on new music, and updates from Canadian music week.

Good Question
Scene and Heard

Good Question have been a very busy band recently. The video for "take a minute" has been getting HUGE airplay on our southern cousins Eastern coast. Their Promo has put their video in front of the eyes of possibly millions of viewers on prime time music features. Add on hugely successful Release parties at Calgary's Ironwood, and Palomino, and an accepted application to Armed Forces Entertainment and you've got a recipe for a hugely successful, and extremely busy 2010. The band members experience around the world playing gigs in first, second, and third world countries brings up strong lyrical content in their music, and its no surprise they could be touring not only Canada, but playing for local Canadians and Americans in the Middle East!

Good Question are a shining beacon for developing bands all over! Don't underestimate what some hard work, a bit of talent and a passion for your music can create! Not only is the band hard working and talented, they understand that relationships in the community and industry can help them out big time.

Paranourmus
Moving On

Earlier this week, the leading team of Paranormus realized what huge goals they had made for 2010, and how seriously they wanted to pursue their music. Unfortunately we must report that Paranormus is no more. The team all had a lot of love for their band and the music they played and all involved, and us at Vandala are sad to see the end. Luckily though, brothers Billy and Bobby are still taking 2010 very seriously for their music. It took only two days to find a new band to play with at www.myspace.com/ oralcompensation. But even more exciting, the pair are now a duo! A two piece guitar/drum project along the lines of the Black Keys is in the early planning stages, with plans to lay down some tracks as early as a few months from now.

Its sad to see our friends at Paranormus go their separate ways, but we are looking forward to Billy and Bobby’s reinvention, and hoping they’ll have us on board with the new project. We hope to see what all the members will do in the future.
